INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The Toronto International Film Festival Group, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is accepting applications for the position of:

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
4 months, full-time

Reporting to the Communications Assistant, the Communications Intern position is an opportunity for a student or recent graduate to put into practice skills they have learned in their Public Relations education. We are interested in applicants who have a specific interest in media and communications.

Responsibilities include:
• Prepare and distribute daily clippings report in a timely fashion;
• Maintain accurate Press Office database records;
• Maintain and update all Press Office files;
• Respond to or redirect all media requests for information;
• Research, write, edit, and circulate Group press releases in a timely fashion;
• Assist in the coordination of Press Office events;

Contract Dates: May 5 to August 29, 2008

Requirements

Skills required:
• Post-secondary education in the field of Communications, Public Relations, and/or Film.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work well individually and with a team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent phone manner.
• High computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred, e-mail and Internet).
• Understanding of the Group’s activities is a desired asset.
