Colborne Lodge Museum is pleased to announce a summer job position to work within the rewarding and enriching environment of this historic property in High Park. Duties
Reporting to the Museum Site Coordinator of Colborne Lodge, you will be involved in the development and delivery of week-long summer camp programs for children 7 to 11 years of age and half-day camp programs for children 5 to 6 years of age, including: researching the history and natural environment of the museum and High Park; developing hands-on activities which illustrate the themes of the programs; preparing materials, purchasing and assembling supplies for the activities; delivering the programs; outlining the program budgets; and preparing manuals for the program.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should be fluent in English, enrolled in, or just completed a degree in education, Canadian studies, environmental sciences or ecology, or equivalent. The candidate will have experience working with children and, in particular, teaching or leading groups, excellent oral communication skills; and excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; and be enthusiastic and flexible. An ability to foster cooperative working relationships and show judgment and sensitivity in dealing with the public are important. Experience in museums or environmental interpretation and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are assets. Basic First Aid Certification is required.
